The Playroom Studio YouTube channel began in 2020, in response to the pandemic - no longer able to make an income from teaching in person, I had the idea to utilise our skills as musicians and teachers, and apply that perspective to reaction videos.

Over the past three years, I have created hundreds of videos, honing my skills in editing and animation, as well as my ability to predict trends and continue to grow our audience.

Our audience have given us the opportunity to release our own original material to a bigger audience than ever before, I have experienced first hand the power of engagement and creating a community, one of the most important factors being a consistent brand.

Teaching and Leading Workshops

10 years, explained.

During the early stages of my career, I embarked on a journey as a singing teacher at the age of 18 within a theatre school. In this role, I successfully navigated classes comprised of 30 or more students, each possessing unique needs and aspirations. This experience laid the foundation for my career as an effective communicator and facilitator of large group interactions.

As my career evolved, I transitioned into one-on-one lessons, steadily building a devoted clientele. I took pride in guiding students towards their individualized goals, ranging from securing scholarships and excelling in grade exams to preparing for auditions. Concurrently, I continued to share my passion for singing by leading choir classes within theatre schools. Eventually, I established my very own choir, an endeavor I proudly continue to oversee to this day.

This extensive experience instructing both children and adults in large classroom settings served as the catalyst for my creative venture: developing comprehensive workshop lesson plans designed to be conducted in a single day. These workshops, designed as enjoyable and therapeutic experiences, found a meaningful purpose in serving young adults residing at the Salvation Army Housing Association (SAHA) at no cost, thanks to SAHA's generous funding. Witnessing the transformative power of group singing in this context has fueled my unwavering commitment to providing these workshops as a source of catharsis and healing.

Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of imparting knowledge to thousands of individuals, spanning various settings including schools, theatre schools, and institutions such as hospitals and care homes. This invaluable experience has honed my ability to communicate complex concepts effectively to large audiences, foster collaboration, manage emotions, and facilitate personal growth. My journey as an educator has not only been a testament to my passion for music but also a testament to my expertise in handling diverse groups and fostering meaningful connections through the art of singing.

My Key Skills

  • Research is crucial in UX. By understanding users' needs, behaviours and challenges, I can create more intuitive and effective experiences, resulting in improved product satisfaction, increased user engagement, and higher chances of success in the market.

  • My experience as a teacher and my natural ability to empathise with people, gives me a unique advantage as a UX designer. My teaching background helps me understand the importance of clear communication and learning processes, while my empathetic nature allows me to understand and advocate for the needs and perspectives of the users, resulting in more user-centered and impactful design solutions.

  • As a UX designer, I am deeply intrigued by content structure and its impact on user experiences. I recognise that organising information in a logical and intuitive manner not only enhances readability but also facilitates users' ability to find and engage with relevant content, ultimately leading to a more seamless and satisfying user journey.

  • I have found a natural affinity for the process of prototyping in UX, as it allows me to bring my design ideas to life and quickly iterate on them. I find the entire cycle of designing, prototyping, and testing exhilarating, as it enables me to witness firsthand how my concepts evolve and improve based on user feedback, ultimately leading to more refined and user-centric solutions.
